Back Pain

Pain was just a word that stands for some minor injuries throughout all my life… I never thought that it would affect my life to an extend it almost made me dysfunctional at an age of 34. Coming from a very athletic background and can be categorized almost hyperactive, when I started feeling the excruciating back pain and sciatica pain my whole world flipped upside down. I was diagnosed with 3 herniated discs; 2 in Lumbar area and 1 in Thoracic. One of those on the lumbar region created 60% of stenosis that caused my unbearable sciatica pain that could not be eased down even with 12 ibuprofen a day, which eventually started eating my Stomach and weakening my Liver.

Knowing that western Doctors would either offer temporary pain relief solutions or suggest Back Surgery, I started seeking for alternative solutions. My 1 year journey started with Chiropractors for which I spend around $2000 and 6-7 months there was no improvement. Every now and then when I get completely dysfunctional, I was put on Steroid pills treatment with home rest for a week (laying down on the floor). Working in a physical field (Pilates Instructor), my studio asked me to stop working for a while as they didn’t want me to work in such condition. Although Pilates was improving my posture and elongating my muscles, the pain was always there. So it had to be something else…

I lost my job for a while and combine with my pain and the aggravation I was walking in the corridors of depression. I finally decided to see a western Doctor and as it was expected they offered epidural shot to take care of the pain temporarily and suggested surgery. I refused to get a epidural shot and finally decided to get a Laser surgery that would cost me $29,000. The burden I would be giving to my family increased my depression.

It was at that point when Dr. Eva and Dr. Garozzo were having a business dinner at my boyfriend’s restaurant one night. Conversations led to my situation and they offered to use me as a case study at one of the seminars they would be organizing for Acupuncture Physicians.

Dr. Garozzo and Eva approached to me from so many unexpected angles being able to diagnose me in their way. That was impressive to begin with… At the end of the diagnosis, I was given to the caring arms of EVA… After not even 12 sessions, I was feeling incredibly well. Each session was almost a meditation; with the soothing music in the background, the needles that you can hardly feel, the Moxa that I love and most importantly Eva, with her unconditional kindness and caring approach in each session.

Here I am today; jumping like a monkey and back to work teaching 4-5 classes a day very smoothly and exercising everyday… Happier than ever!

Women's Health - HRT (Hormonal Replacement Therapy)

I am a 50-year-old female. I sought out Eva’s help for two reasons. The first was to address my kidneys. I had gotten a test back that showed microscopic blood in my urine and I had throbbing in my left kidney. An ultrasound showed nothing. The doctor didn’t know what was wrong with me. Secondly I was going through menopause and was very unbalanced; hot flashes, heart palpitation and total exhaustion from interrupted sleep. I tried bioidentical hormones but I could not get balanced. I had hit rock bottom and needed help!

My first consultation with Eva was very enlightening. Because I had taken the birth control pill for 20 years, I had damaged my kidneys, spleen and liver. They were not producing their own hormones; the birth control pill was doing it. My bioidentical hormones, which I thought were good to take because they were natural, were still hormones that were controlling my organs. We all have been programmed to take pills when we feel bad. I had to completely change my way of thinking and finally decided to change my condition. The first month I struggled with this, but at the same time I could feel a change in my body. The throbbing in my kidneys was gone. My heart palpitations had subsided. I knew I was heading in the right direction. I have been receiving treatments twice a week for 6 months. I just received my latest urine test and there is no microscopic blood in my urine. I cannot tell you how happy and relieved I am. Acupuncture is a very powerful medicine. I feel grounded, stronger, healthy and peaceful after being treated. I never felt like this after taking a pill.

I know that I am very fortunate to have Eva treat me. She is an incredible young woman with an old soul. She has a special gift to heal that you recognize as soon as you met her; because of her passion and commitment to Acupuncture my health is flourishing.

Kidney Problems/ UTI

It all started about ten years ago. The pain, that is. I developed urinary tract infection and shortly after kidney stones, in which doctors had no explanation for their causes. I would visit urologists on a monthly basis and thousands of dollars later, the pain was still there. I was given a few options: surgery, taking medicine for the rest of my life, or absolutely nothing. It got to the point where pain just became part of my normal life. I went from getting urinary tract infections from every 3 months, to every month, then to every week. Not only were they becoming more frequent, but more painful as well. June 30th came along and I developed a tremendous kidney stone, which sent me straight to the hospital. At that point, I knew that I needed to find something to cure it.

Eva had been my neighbor and before long, my client. As the kind and warm-hearted person that she is, she asked how I was feeling because she knew a bit about my problems. Since she specializes in nephrology (kidney’s problems) as well, she gave me a quick lecture about acupuncture, how it works, and how it would benefit me. I am not going to lie, at first; I was petrified because I had never tried alternative medicine. The thought of a cure other than medicine and surgery seemed bizarre to me. However, Eva had this look of passion in her eyes that convinced me this would really help.

I began my first treatment in November for approximately three months and believe it or not, it all went away. What years of medicine couldn’t do, acupuncture fixed. Not only did my pain go away, but I also learned how to eat properly and manage my stress. I am now a true believer that acupuncture works and highly recommend it for anything, especially with Eva.

Headaches

I first came to Eva for headaches. I had done everything that western medicine suggested and everything just seemed to be a short term remedy. I got headaches every day for 2 years. The headaches were pretty bad, where smells and sounds would bother me. A friend suggested acupuncture and although I was a little hesitant at first, I finally gave in and came to see Eva. She thoroughly explained the procedure and expectations. I connected with her right away and trusted my Qi to her. In only a few sessions, I noticed my headaches were diminishing and after a month of treatment, I didn't notice any headaches at all. I couldn't believe that a few needles had that power, but they do and now, I still see Eva to help me fully find my body's balance.

Panic Attack

I have not known anything about the power of acupuncture treatment until I had my panic attack few months ago. There aren’t words that could describe the worst feeling of having a panic attack. I use to feel heat, flashes, dizziness, and heaviness in my body. My doctor put on medicine to take for at least six months. Since I am against taking medicine due to many side effects, I asked for alternative treatment. One of my colleagues brought to my attention the magic of acupuncture. I didn’t believe her but I was in a very bad shape that I wanted to get myself back under any condition. I started to look for an acupuncturist and it happened that Eva is friend to my best friend.

The second I saw Eva, I felt that I knew this lady from another world. I totally trusted her. I started feeling better and stopped taking any pills after a few sessions. Today I feel like myself is back to a normal life. I still continue to see Eva once in a while to balance my system. It is amazing to see how small needles can treat people without any side effects.

One thing I have learned about the wonderful Eva is she loves her job and she cares about her patients. I love her and I owe her big time.

Asthma

I was first referred to Eva for a massage over 6 years ago. From the first touch she gave I knew I she had a great hand. The massages she gave from that point forward were so good that I became completely hooked on all the variations of massages Eva offers from traditional deep tissue to hot stone to traditional Thai massages. About 9 months ago I decided to take several different changes in my life including the my overall quality of life as related to my chronic asthma. Eva had recommended I begin traditional acupuncture treatment with her in lieu of the other medications i was taking which included singulair, albuterol and other corticosteriods. At first I wasn't sure that the treatments would work and i felt nervous to be off the medication since most of my asthma triggers have been induced by allergies. It has now been 8 months since I have been receiving treatment with Eva and my asthma episodes have been significantly reduced to the point which i can say that I'm free from inhalors and steroids. It has been over 5 months since the last episode which i felt the need to use an inhalor. For me, that is astonishing since I did not perceive how the use of acupuncture in conjunction with herbs could decrease the symptoms associated with asthma and the all the side effects caused by the western medications. I am happy to say that thanks to these valuable treatments I am a healthy individual who no longer struggles to breathe. Thank you Eva!
